Sweet Sixteen Part 1

Welcome back everyone to another post! I hope your week is going as well as mine is. Let's get right down to the games tonight. Since there are only 4 games tonight, I'll use Parris' 4 Points today to preview the games:

1. The first round of the Sweet Sixteen starts tonight at 6:15 with a match up that I have been looking forward to since I saw the brackets come out. Fortunately, I actually picked this match up to happen, the University of Connecticut Huskies will play the San Diego State Atzecs. This is a game that features a senior laden team against a team that comes out of winning the Big East tournament and has possibly the best guard in this tournament in Kemba Walker. Kemba is among a select few that could win Player of the Year in the NCAA this year. I think that UConn is on a roll right now and even though Steve Fisher's team does not have to travel far for this game, they will win this matchup. UCONN 83 SDSU 79

2. The other early game on TBS will feature the only player that could possibly beat Kemba in a game of one on one, Jimmer Fredette. BYU will play against the Florida Gators in a rematch of last year's tournament. The two teams played one of the best games of last years tournament. Florida is a two seed so they would be slightly favored, but I do not think that the Gators, a team that got beat pretty bad in the SEC tournament championship game by Kentucky has the talent and athletes to stop Jimmer. I think that if Jimmer can get his average of about 34 points a game, then BYU will march onto the Elite Eight. BYU 73 Florida 71

3. The first number one seed to play this weekend will be the Duke Blue Devils who will play against the Arizona Wildcats, two teams who have a lot of NCAA tournament history. I saw an interesting stat on ESPN today that said Duke has never won a sweet sixteen game in the West Region. Although the Blue Devils have to fly across country and Arizona is already in the west, I think this stat may be broken tonight. Arizona has a future NBA player in Derrick Williams, but Duke definitely has more future Pros, not to mention Coack K. As much as I want Arizona to win because I think Duke escaped last weekends game against Michigan by not playing defense in the final ten minutes of the game, I think Duke will win this game. DUKE 86 ARIZONA 81

4. The final game of the evening features two teams that not many people picked in their brackets to play each other this weekend, the Butler Bulldogs against the Wisconsin Badgers. Neither team has any stand out players, but both teams just seem to find ways to win games. Wisconsin plays tough defense and has an experienced team with good three point shooters. The cinderella team of last year's tournament, Butler has the recent tournament experience, and as it would appear really good luck this year with solid players such as Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard. This game will probably be the least exciting of the evening to watch, but Butler continues to prove everyone, including me wrong so keep an eye on it. BUTLER 68 WISCONSIN 66

That's all for Parris' 4 Points today, Come back tomorrow to preview Friday's matchups, including the Kansas Jayhawks! Please leave any questions, comments, or suggestions below!
